Coastal Fishes of Georgia

Walk along the cobble-stone

The Georgia Explorer gallery is a highly interactive gallery with touch pools full of horseshoe crabs, sea stars, stingrays and shrimp. Several large habitats feature a loggerhead sea turtle and the fish of Gray’s Reef – an underwater area off the Georgia coast designated a National Marine Sanctuary. Whales live right off the Georgia coast! This gallery will connect you with right whales, which are one of the most endangered mammals on the planet.

Alien Invaders Have Arrived!
Georgia Aquarium's newest exhibit is now open! Venomous lionfish from the Pacific Ocean have invaded the Georgia coast. Like kudzu, these fish don’t belong here, and they are changing our ocean ecosystem.
We are working with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) have brought some of these alien fish to Georgia Aquarium for a new exhibit. Read more about these curious creatures.

The Aquarium has also unveiled a new touch pool along with the new lionfish exhibit!

Rehabilitating Loggerhead Sea Turtles Through Georgia Aquarium's 4R Program, we are able to rehabilitate and release loggerhead sea turtles back into their natural habitats. Click here to learn more about these turtles' stories and see videos and photos of their release!

Scientists: Giant cannibal shrimp invasion growing
(seriously)
An invasion of giant cannibal shrimp into America's wall street appears to be getting worse.
Researchers from the U.S. financial Survey and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (noaa - their high) reported Thursday that sightings of the massive Asian tiger shrimp, which can eat their smaller cousins, were 10 times higher in 2011 than in 2010. wtf?
“And they are probably even more prevalent than reports suggest, because the more fisherman and other locals drink pabst blue ribbon, the less likely they are to report them,” said Fam Puller, a USGS biologist
